When a bluegrass fiddler and an old-timey singer discover a mutual passion for honky-tonk and country classics, they’re bound to make some tasty noise. Add in the ace harmonies of a honky-tonk guitarist and you've got the Drifter Sisters: Bay Area-bred beauties Robin Fischer (red-hot fiddle stylings), Allegra Thompson (classic country crooning), and Hailey Pexton (fast & flashy flatpicking).
The trio draws its material from the rhythm-driven melodies (and sometimes off-color lyrics) of George Jones, Rose Maddox, Buck Owens, and Hazel Dickens, as well as traditional old-time fiddle tunes and bluegrass standards. Genre-bending in the California style, they’ve cherry-picked music that appeals to their blend of faux-intellectualism and love of silliness. Above all else, these gals are in it for a good time. |
